Condition & logistics
Running vs Not Running
Whether your van is in good running condition or it’s seen better days, we accept both! Running vehicles can be quickly put to use, while non-running vans often have valuable parts that can be salvaged, helping others in need.
Title Issues
If you have issues with your van’s title, don’t worry! We can work through most situations, so even if it’s lost or has a lien, give us a call to discuss options.
Storage and Pickup Logistics
We make it easy for you! If your van is taking up space and you’re ready to donate, we’ll arrange for a pickup at your convenience, whether it’s at your home or a storage facility.
Title transfer & paperwork
Transferring the title of your van or minivan in California is simple. Both you and Delta Ride Exchange need to fill out the appropriate DMV forms, including the Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability. Notarization is not required in California for vehicle title transfers, but don’t forget to remove your license plates! This ensures you’re not liable for anything that happens after the donation.
Tax deduction for this donation
Your van donation could qualify you for a tax deduction that typically ranges from $500 to the sale price if it sells for more. We’ll provide you with a 1098-C form to document your donation, ensuring you receive the credit you deserve come tax season. Always consult with a tax professional to understand how this may affect your situation.
Local context — Stockton
In Stockton, minivans and vans are often donated by families facing changes, such as divorce or kids driving off to college. It's common to see a once-loved family van sitting idle while the local RV park bustles with visitors. The culture of community support runs deep here, and we see a lot of generosity from residents wanting to make a positive impact. From the neighborhoods around the marina to the outskirts near the Delta, your van can help serve those who need a boost.
