How we started
Delta Ride Exchange was born in the heart of Stockton as a response to a troubling trend in our community. Many of our neighbors were missing out on essential benefits like CalFresh and Medi-Cal, often due to lack of awareness or complications in the enrollment process. A group of local advocates came together to explore ways to bridge this gap, realizing that many families had cars they could donate but didn’t know how to go about it. That’s when the idea hit us: use vehicle donations to fund a dedicated benefits-research service for our community.
By connecting willing donors with a purpose-driven mission, we not only provided a way for people to contribute to something larger than themselves but also created a resource that would empower our residents. Today, Delta Ride Exchange is proud to play a role in uplifting Stockton by ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need, transforming the way people think about car donations and community support.
Our mission
At Delta Ride Exchange, our mission is to connect Stockton residents with vital resources like CalWORKs, WIC, and LIHEAP through a seamless vehicle donation process. We believe that everyone deserves access to benefits that can help improve their quality of life, and our work is aimed at ensuring that no one in our community is left behind. By transforming unused cars into funding for a dedicated benefits-research service, we’re not just changing lives—we’re building a stronger, healthier Stockton.

Why this city
Stockton is a vibrant city with a rich tapestry of neighborhoods, from the bustling downtown to the suburban families in places like Brookside and Lincoln Village. However, many residents, particularly in underserved areas like the East Side, face significant barriers to accessing benefits. The demographics reflect a diverse population, often with high rates of un-enrollment from critical programs like CalFresh and Medi-Cal. By establishing Delta Ride Exchange here, we aim to close these gaps and uplift every corner of our city, ensuring that all voices are heard and supported.
